Lunatic on Bulbs

What a genius idea--The New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx has recreated Emily Dickinson's garden at Amherst. She practiced night gardening allegedly because of vision problems; sunlight stung her eyes and she called herself Lunatic on Bulbs due to her passion for daffodils, hyacinth and other spring perennials according to the NY Times article by Holland Cotter. Emily Dickinson's Garden: The Poetry of Flowers is a collaboration between the New York Botanical Garden and the Poetry Society of America.

Living and Eating

Tonight, I'm making a roast chicken from Living and Eating. My new outlook is minimalist, paring down to bare essentials, inspired by John Pawson but maybe not as extreme. I do like some things in view....glass fruit, a copy of The Lover in a perspex box, photographs of friends and family....in any case, I appreciate his work and right now crave few distractions.

I read recently about karmayogis being those who find spirituality through work and find that all my procrastination will get me nowhere. No kidding!

Am working on a couple of stories and need to finish them, figuring out a way to have a daily writing practice, even if I start with an hour a day. Also, cooking for my family of five, doing it with attitude regardless of how much I don't want to sometimes and will be posting a list of my favorite cookbooks which, of course, includes Living and Eating.

I hope to never settle. I hope to always have the energy to keep going. I love my dear friend Audrey.
