Wool and the Gang

I have always meant to learn. I've had a bag from Annelore with yarn and needles ready to go. My girls could learn alongside, they already finger knit obsessively, and destress with me. A great way to meditate. These tutorials are perfect. I want the Jane Collar in red!

Create Dangerously

Edwidge Danticat's new book is a must-read. Especially poignant, as pointed out in the recent New York Times review, is the notion of the immigrant artist experiencing survivor's guilt and the decision made by Danticat to nevertheless continue to write and not remain silent.

Arquitectura de remesas

El Salvador's MARTE is currently showing the exhibit Arquitectura de remesas. Interestingly executed, it showcases photographs of the houses built by people in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala from remittances sent home by family members living and working abroad, primarily in the US. Here, a blog documenting the project. On view through October 17.
