Edwidge Danticat's new book is a must-read. Especially poignant, as pointed out in the recent New York Times review, is the notion of the immigrant artist experiencing survivor's guilt and the decision made by Danticat to nevertheless continue to write and not remain silent.

El Salvador's MARTE is currently showing the exhibit Arquitectura de remesas. Interestingly executed, it showcases photographs of the houses built by people in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala from remittances sent home by family members living and working abroad, primarily in the US.
